Green Schools Update

Update provided via Brad Carne, USGBC NFC Green Homes Committee Chair.

If you would like to be involved in this committee work, email Brad at greenhomes@usgbcne.org.

Recently there was a USGBC National Green Homes Call about greening the MLS. The MLS is the Mulitple Listing Service for all the houses for sale. This is a huge undertaking and is going to take alot of planning if our chapter wants to pursue. The Colorado USGBC chapter has done it in the past and we may want to bring in a speaker for the day to discuss.

Our chapter is looking to provide a LEED workshop for the Nebraska Green Council (this group is mostly Green Builders that work with the Department of Energy). While our chapter cannot endorse the associated NAHB Certification Process for Homes, we will provide support towards this exciting step forward in Green Homes construction.

The chapter plans to help the GOC (Green Omaha Coalition) in working to develop this years' Green Homes Tour. Details are forthcoming, but GOC is in need of an individual to head up this effort.

We are also looking into opportunities to partner with the Omaha and Lincoln reEnergize Program for Homes, part of the DOE Better Buildings initiative.

The Restore Omaha Conference is March 2-3 and the chapter will have a booth. Hours are 8am - 4:30pm and any help staffing the booth would be greatly appreciated.
