Call them assessments, evaluations or audits, we can all agree that energy performance in existing buildings is the future of sustainable design and operation. Buildings in this country consume around 40% of total energy, and while new construction codes, standards and voluntary certification programs are helping improve that,
a large quantity of existing building stock has plenty of room for improvement.

This presentation will discuss the typical steps for performing energy audits, some typical findings, discuss which buildings are the best candidates for these studies, and the differences between audits and retro-commissioning. The importance of creating a usable deliverable data system for the owner will be discussed as well.
