New York City Energy Code Becomes Effective

NEW YORK—The New York City Energy Conservation Code became effective this month. The code is part of the city’s plan to reduce its carbon emissions by 30% by 2030. The code affects building envelopes, HVAC and water-heating systems, and lighting. It applies to all new projects and renovations, making it stricter than the New York State code, which excempts renovations affecting less than 50% of a building.Read more
