Study Finds Smart Meters Not Enough To Lead Consumers To Save Energy

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Consumers could reduce their household electricity use as much as 12% and save a combined $35 billion or more over the next 20 years if U.S. utilities go beyond "smart meter" initiatives and include more energy-use feedback tools that get consumers more involved in the process of conserving energy, according to a new report from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).
